There Are No Secrets

4. Oct 2008 05:31, Michal

I don't give a hoot how much time you've spent trying to make money online; you buy this product, get on that list, watch that video or set of videos...it doesn't matter. Someone is going to keep selling you - the worst part is, we keep buying with the hope of finding that one perfect product that will make it all easier. But have you ever noticed how much similarity exists between all of them? I've put down a few bucks on such things, from one or two product creators. At first, they're like a breath of fresh air - until you get into the meat of them - if there's any meat at all. At the core, they're all basically the same - it comes down to who you trust more, which leads to who you actually give your money to.

I'm not disgruntled, mind you, I'm just trying to be honest. There are no "secrets". The sooner you learn that, the better off you'll be. If you or I don't know something about this business, it's because we're ignorant - not because there's a hidden tactic. This is the part where you get mad because I called you ignorant...I'll give you a sec...

Remember back to your school days? There wasn't a 'secret' to learning math or history, you simply had to be taught. The information was there long before you went into that class, all you had to do was have it given to you - then, you ceased to be ignorant (there's a FAR CRY between ignorance and stupidity, LOL - ignorance is the "good" one, because it can be fixed; sorry stupid people). It's 100% the same with the online game - if you do enough reading and searching, you'll never have to pay a dime for any 'program'. These "secrets" that they sell (and we buy) are nothing more than information which has existed since Internet marketing became viable. In fact, dare I say, Internet Marketing tactics existed BEFORE the Internet. No. I haven't been sucking at the teat of a keg of Guinness - think about it.

The methods behind Internet marketing are no different than that of conventional media advertising. Commercials, Newspapers, Magazines - all of them hold the key to the methods used online. Keywords? Yup - ads in printed media use keywords to entice the reader. Email Lists - absolutely; are you a newspaper or magazine subscriber? Then you're on a list whose disseminated information contains 60% advertising of some kind...personally, I like the little scratch and sniff cologne things, though I don't see that making much headway online, LOL. How many of us have bought products because of a commercial or an ad placement? If you say "not me", then you're either a) lying or b) the perfect consumer because the ads have enticed you to buy without even realizing it - PLEASE let me sell you something, HA! Just kidding.

Getting hooked into an ad is NOTHING to be ashamed of, neither is purchasing a product because of said advert. That's what consumers do, we buy. Even those peddling the ads and sales tactics are consumers - there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. However, when it comes to trying to be the one who does the selling - it's very easy to go overboard. If you've dumped enough money into this online program or that, you'll know (thematically) they're all basically the same. Sure, some package it differently or have a different way of presenting it - but realistically, they're all the same at the core...all of them. Do you need them? YES!

If you want to make any headway, you need "something". It would take you far too much time to get the information yourself; we often buy things to make life easier, even to the smallest point. You could easily clean your toilet with a sponge, but isn't it easier to use that johnny-mop thingy? Not to mention, even flushed, a toilet is a nasty place (seemingly) to put your hand into.

Every major (and minor) brand name company has an advertising agency - one agency who handles their promotions. Okay, some have a few for different product lines, but that's not my point :P In general, one agency handles all of the methods of promoting the products of that company...so why do we, as online promoters, need 150 quadrillion different "tools"? Honestly? You don't. The smartest thing you could do is land yourself in the lap of one "guru" who is willing to teach you. Most of the better ones have numerous methods for Internet marketing - just as one advertising agency handles many different kinds of media.

So you get into one program, whichever one you want, it's your choice. The beauty of 'choice' is that, if that program doesn't work for you - you can choose not to stick with it. But beware!! If you've chosen to dump a product - DUMP IT COMPLETELY! Get of their list, delete their mail...all of that. If you notice yourself keeping stuff around 'just in case', then you're caught in their web and the chances that they'll be able to sell you something in the future are very, very high (in fact, that's what a lot of them count on). There's nothing wrong with starting over, but you have to do it with a clean slate - otherwise you'll be one of those people who can be sold something without even realizing it.

Anyway, that's my $.02
